Irekei mage bard help

Post by carterza » Sun Jun 01, 2014 7:24 pm

Would love some help with a template for an irekei mage bard.

I went with sorcery + warding and I'm really trying to figure out why I should play this toon over my fury.

Track is nice - but I can live without it.

I took a 40 int rune and in offensive stance with some 10 int rings (not ideal I know) and 15 sorcery / warding hood and feather wand my mage bolt is showing 145-414 damage in offensive stance.

There's no way I'm going to be able to drop anything before the stun wears off - the damage just seems really [fluffy bunnies] poor and I'm not sure how to supplement it.

Trains look like -

130 sorcery
130 warding
111 bardsong
40 shielding
40 mage bolt
40 blood boil - is this even worth it?
40 stun
40 spectral bonds
1 puns
40 ritardando
40 anthem of avoidance
20 nyth rune
20 river of life
40 countersong
40 song of spring

I get that I'm a beast as far as being able to take damage for a mage - but then agian so is my fury. Where can I move trains around to make this more effective and deal more damage?

My discs are - Sun dancer, huntsman, rune caster and blood prophet.

I appreciate any advice. Thanks!

keep in mind your a bard and your job is not to deal dammage as a mage. You are a support toon. In a fire group fire bards can do some serious damage at least. Your going to want to train bloodfire.

You need more bardsong. i.e. 115 for "dance of derrec the duntless"

You want to gm both your roots as well and put some points in to multo ritardando.

If you want a PK bard make a rogue.

also as a bard you can track as a mage(the only class that can).

I always thought the Bard's nuke (Dread Dissonance) did pretty decent damage. You might want to refine and check that out.

That would also open up some points for Molto, MCS, and your second root.

You will have comparable dps by weaving magebolt and lmb.

Anyway. Magebards are plenty viable for solo pvp.

DPS will always be a problem on a solo mage bard. Any mage will do better in that area. Keep that in mind. There may still be other reasons you want to continue on using the build, though.

The way I see it, there are 4 ways you can increase your DPS:
1) Jack up your int. Max int, int/int jewelry.
2) Increase power damage. This means either using the archmage power or a CC staff
3) Play with a wizard. They can expose to magic for you, giving you much more DPS
4) Proc. I can't vouch for how viable this is, but you could go with a human war bow proccer or an elf BW proccer(lvl 25 powers) or some other variation.
