Elf Wizard - Dual Wielding Wands

Post by Chaotic » Mon Jan 23, 2012 11:48 am

Didn't see any wizard talk in a long while now so I thought I would give you guys a reason to talk:

Race: Elf
Class: Wizard
Disciplines: Archmage, Battle Magus, Bladeweaver.

Starting runes: Wizzy apprentice, Brilli Mind, Dark Whispers, Precise (you can toy around and take the elf int rune or FoF instead of DW or precise but I rather have em both - on this char)

End stats: INT: 180/180
SPI: 90/95
CON: 65/65

Skills: Wizardy: 115%
Sorcery: till 2 to 1.
Warding: 10 pts.
Staff: 100%

Powers: Mage Bolt: GM
Lesser MB: 1 pt
SoS: GM
Hexegram Ritual: GM
Xlocation: GM
GTS: 1 pt
Cloack of Obscurity: JM
Shielding: GM
Stun: GM
Charm of Binding: GM
Charm of Protection: GM
Mystic Word: 1 pt
Enfeeblement: 1 pt
Weakening: 1 pt
Sign Hagaan: 1 pt
Consume the Will: 1 pt
Mystic Backlash: 1 pt

Discipline Powers: Litany of Will: JM
Arcanes Doom: JM
Chant of Mastery: 1 pt
Skirmish Counterspell: GM (20 pts)
Demolishing Spell: 1 pt (refine anything else to train if needed as a burner)

Gear: 12/12/35 Con/Int/Mr rings.
Int (or resist) Charmed (20/20/20) amulet.
CC Hood&Gloves.
Sleevless Robe with 15/15 sorc/warding and 12 int.
Sleeves with 5/5 resist.
Windlords Boots with 5 resist.
CC Staff.

You can choose more resist over int. The point of this darling is hitting almost everything, and when I do, I rather also do some damage.

P.S. There is also another similar based character with higher health, same thing, different starting runes (Warlords Page, TaN, Elf con rune, Clever) hits just about 3.4k hp). Also my favorite, is the irekei equivalent (to the high hp one), with greater survivability doing the same role even better (I wouldn't post it, just fill in the gaps).

You may discuss all 3 builds.

I think you are referring to having 2 bone wands:

wands and septors are right handed only. meaning no dual wield

Good point.

Looks like you will need take BW swords then Chaotic. Better anyway since you get more sword points with a BW Elf ;)

Are you sure bro? I don't recall that ever being in the way.

Either way, I wouldnt give up the staff. The wands are for the extra sorc/ward bonus. I would just mediumize the atr and power up the power cost dmg by using CC staff. Problem solved

IIRC you can use a wand prime hand and an atr/resist weapon off hand.

Another good option is to use Aeglorils in both hands so that you can power block.

He is right, I remember on Vindi when playing for an Irekei guild anyone trying to duel wield with SD had to go either both UA weaps or dagger/UA in one hand and 1H wand in the other.

A couple things that I saw and I could be wrong but, 20 pts in the DA with Shielding is 75 resist c/s/p so there is an extra free 20 points. The 100% staff is ok cept the fact that a 25% wand s/w int with more points for focuses has better atr and damage imo. With Archmage's 20% power boost you are just as deadly. And if you are going pure glass cannon with no hp you might as well use all int/int jewels. Just my look on this topic :)

Take down the shielding and leave up the DAto hit 75 resists imo.

DA will drop superfast at 20pt to melee. Take it to GM and kill your targets faster, if you haven't dropped the melee toon by the time your DA drops Shielding won't matter anyway, it's either port or die.

It better not be some gimp elf wizard. I could make a R3..heck probably lvl 27 or so wizard for a wiz dual and beat a 75.

Wizards don't "dual!"! They "assasinate"!

You may hold one wand and one dagger/sword/nightstick/blackjack. High int elf can hold the 50% tblade for fashionbane.
